On site On site in Linz the sounds being generated and processed at entry points around the globe emerge as an interconnected sound-installation at different festival locations, exploring different potentials of sound drifting through physical spaces - from the immersive to the ambient. a. In several existing loudspeaker-systems at different locations in Linz (Skymedialoft at AEC, Brucknerhaus Café, Donautorpassage, entrance to the ORF/Radio and TV-building) Sound Drifting appears in the form of special ambient background mixes, which are produced at the OK. b. at the MEDIADECK of the OK Centrum für Gegenwartskunst OÖ at Linz, SOUND DRIFTING becomes an immersive sound-installation, which integrates webcams from other locations and the display of individual streams from all locations. |
On air On air Sound Drifting will be experienced in Austria as a radio installation in an all night RADIO INSTALLATION on the cultural channel of the Austrian National Radio (Sept 5th/6th, 10:05 p.m. - 6:OO a.m. CEST). |
On line On line the Linz versions of Sound Drifting manifest themselves as a streamed mix and web-cams related to the OK Media Deck-installation and a second one during the Radionight (both accompanied by web-cams), and in soundfiles documenting the ambient Linz-versions. The artists of the Kunstradio Webteam are constantly updating this page, you are looking at, which serves as an interface linking all locations with their live-streams and webcams etc. |
The material used
in the Linz-on site-on line-on air versions of SOUND DRIFTING comes exclusively
from the virtual installation fed by the remote locations. No new material
will be added by the artists-teams in Linz. Thus, the Linz versions of
SOUND DRIFTING are seen as an opportunity to study different ways of rendering
remotely, distributedly and simultaneously produced material for different
contexts/perceptual situations/interfaces avoiding appropriation of the
material by the artists on site. Changing teams, comprised of artists from Austria and from remote locations, are responsible for different on line-on site-on air versions emanating in and from Linz with the help of Sound Drifter. The artists are not acting as creators but rather as mediators between the different remote locations, the Sound Drifter and specific on site- on air and on line- contexts. |
