Guido Gamboa

born in 1992, is an American artist that works in the sound and visual mediums. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he studied sound art and art history. His sound practice is informed primarily by the histories and ideas of musique concrete, sound poetry, computer music, electroacoustic music and contemporary composition. These works often involve the use of field recordings, magnetic tape, non-standard tunings, indeterminate processes and generative algorithms. His visual work is informed by the histories of early experimental and structural filmmaking, early color photography and the artistic use of the polaroid format. He also runs the record label Pentiments, a label specializing in the release of experimental music and sound art documents by artists around the world. It has released works on limited edition vinyl by notable sound artists such as Leif Brush, Andres Bosshard and Arsenije Jovanovic and plans to continue publishing works that are otherwise unavailable, uncommon or underappreciated.
