In
the fourth book of John Milton’s epic poem “Paradise
Lost” the most famous of the fallen angels, Satan, assailed by
self-doubts, journeys to Paradise. Sitting on the tree of knowledge, he
watches Eve and Adam in their happy state. When he tries to enter
Eve’s dreams, he is thrown out of Paradise by two angels. What is her Eden, what is his Eden like? Do they go to paradise, or do we go? Is Eden where after millions of years what is left is found deposited in every layer, informing of the past? Or: Is this Eden, we ask ourselves when we enter paradise and discover that it is just as we know from reading about it. Live on air, on line, on site the percussionist Hearn Gadbois, an American who has long been living in Prague, and Marold Langer-Philippsen take us on a rhythmic and narrative radio journey to an Eden where once the tree of knowledge stood.
