Do you know a place only by its name? A subtle breeze and whisper in your ear from the buzz of all those people who have already been there? An almost inaudible circling of time dust around you hovering along the walls, skimming along the corridors, not even stopping at locked doors. This low noise circles even in the most sealed off, subterrenean rooms. It can be captured best with an oscillating microphone which for three days calmly measures the room, without any hurry. Gradually the coatings of the acoustic space are multiplied as if a number of welkins, each with a starry sky of their own, were circulating, relocating their positions against each other. Cassiopeia triply concatenated and Capella, in form of a dense tail, simultaneously perforating five welkins. Urumar and Qxtortikl, shu-schu-mara and Sofrania's Heliopropons - they all leave sonic traces in the spacial breeze of the solar wind. The memory of our ability to sail along time winds open up your ear and, you ride along the timelines first awkwardly, then becoming increasingly free and bold, you sensitively perceive the breathing, vast space surrounding you.

(Andres Bosshard)

In May this year, following an invitation from Kunstradio, the Swiss musician and sound architect Andres Bosshard held a 5.1 workshop for Vienna-based artists at the Funkhaus. During this workshop he also developed a new piece, „Zwischen Antares und Altair“.

A three-dimensional feedback-loop was installed from the subterranean surround studio of the ORF crossing the passageways, leading into other studios, recording possible acoustic-magnetic spacial fluctuations. Sonic traces of everyday routines of the working crew, musicians coming in and out of the studios, the cleaning staff etc. mix into this buzz of an ever more circulating sound installation.
