Omnia in omnibus was the slogan oft the distinguished scholar Athanasius Kircher, who lived in the 17th century and researched on every available topic and field of knowledge. He embodies the universality of a knowledge not confined to singular disciplines, but including everything extensively and relating the diverse disciplines to each other. This is the central point of origin for the artistic concept of the project, that intertwines various acoustic and visual structures with diverse stories and meanings, in order to create something new, reminiscent of the past yet pointing towards the future.

Initially, the composition “Omnia and omnibus – a time travel through eight centuries” was commissioned by the University of Vienna on the occasion of its 650-year anniversary in 2015.

For Kunstradio, Karlheinz Essl has recorded a new 4-channel-radio- version on 19th June 2015 at studio kHz.
