The acoustical secrets of the city at various moments of day and night. The sound landscape is collected through a gradual and progressive process. Adrift in the memory of the city like an acoustical film without images. Steps, screams, songs and invocations, printing-machines, musical instruments. Celebra-tions at the Vesuvio volcano. Stratifications of sounds and images continuously changing. The gradual changes are transversed by the lightning of an acoustical storm which modifies the perception of the orginal sources. The microphone is also used as a lens to enlarge details, acoustical fragments otherwise almost inaudible. Microlistening and macrolistening are both present, keeping their specificities. Not fusion but reciprocal relation between materials. The listener can immers in the sound territory of the city where acoustical daily life is so important. Not a picture of Napoli but its absence creates a longed for bewilderment. An immersion in the city through the mystery of hearing.

In the dark space; tiny mis en scenes lit from above: a group of small figures enveloped by the flames of purgatory, an eye from the wall of a church in Naples, an eye on a small monitor. Sometimes, for a few seconds only, the whole space is brightly lit .....

Die akustischen Geheimnisse der Stadt zu verschiedenen Augenblicken des Tages und der Nacht. Die Klanglandschaft wird in einem allmählich fortschreitenden Prozeß zusammengetragen. Ein Schweifen im Gedächtnis der Stadt wie ein akustischer Film ohne Bilder. Schritte, Schreie, Lieder, Be-schwörungen, Druckereimaschinen, Musikinstrumente. Feste am Vesuv. Sich ständig verändernde Schichten von Klängen und Bildern. Die langsamen Veränderungen werden von ei-nem akustischen Sturm durchkreuzt, der die Wahrnehmung des Ausgangsmaterials verändert. Das Mikrofon dient als Vergrößerungsglas für Details, akustische Fragmente, die man gewöhnlich überhört. Mikrohören und Makrohören. Ein Sichversenken in die Stadt durch das Geheimnis des Hörens...

Im dunklen Raum kleine beleuchtete Szenen - Figuren im Fegefeuer, eine Votivgabe - ein Auge - aus einer napoletanischen Kirche - ein Monitor mit einem Auge ... Manchmal wird für Sekunden der ganze Raum plötzlich hell, um sofort wieder in die Dunkelheit des Hörraumes zurückzusinken ...
