"My approach to this building will be from the stand point that it is the body of an instrument yet unfinished. I will bring in some of my sound generating machines along with raw materials with which to build on site. These mechanisms and devices brought in and attached will bring this "instrument" to one form of completion. In previous presentations my intent has been to install a group of instruments and orchestrate them in various movements. In this case I view this "instrument" as a rhythm generator, each mechanism will contribute a sub rhythm to a large overall rhythm, as a group of mechanisms together forms a machine. I will work and experiment for two weeks and produce the final rhythm on August 31." (Matt Heckert)

After the other installations of "ZEITGLEICH - the exhibition" had been taken down on August 16th, Matt Heckert worked for two weeks in the main room of the former salt-warehouse. On August 31st his performance "AS OF NOW" marked the end of both "ZEITGLEICH - the exhibition" and "ZEITGLEICH - the sculpture symposium".

"Ich gehe an dieses Gebäude wie an den Körper eines Instrumentes heran, das noch nicht vollendet ist. Ich werde einige meiner klangerzeugenden Maschinen mitbringen und dazu Rohmaterial, mit dem ich in der Halle bauen kann. Diese Mechanismen und Geräte, die mitgebracht und angebracht werden, werden das "Instrument" Halle zu einer möglichen Form der Vollendung bringen. In früheren Arbeiten verfolgte ich die Absicht, eine Gruppe von Instrumenten zu installieren und sie in verschiedenen Sätzen zu orchestrieren. In diesem Fall betrachte ich das "instrument" als Rhythmus-Generator; jeder Mechanismus wird einen Subrhythmus zu einem grossen umfassenden Rhythmus beitragen, so wie eine Gruppe von Mechanismen zusammen eine Maschine bildet. Ich werde zwei Wochen lang arbeiten und experimentieren und den letzten Rhythmus am 31.August produzieren." (Matt Heckert)

Matt Heckert arbeitete, nachdem die anderen Installationen von "ZEITGLEICH - der Ausstellung" am 16. August abgebaut worden waren, zwei Wochen lang im Hauptraum des ehemaligen Salzmagazins. Am 31.August setzte seine Performance "AS OF NOW" den endgültigen Schlußstrich unter "ZEITGLEICH - die Ausstellung" und "ZEITGLEICH - das Bildhauer-symposium".
