In-depth Project Descriptions
"Life of a Star" (1998) - performance, Live Art Weekend Fabrica Art Gallery, Brighton UK. Study of celebrity as the result of morbid attention from the public. A 1930's movie star surrounded by five bodyguards describing meticulously her every move, from the raising of an eyebrow to a detailed report of her fainting, and a tabloid journalist forever asking irrelevant questions to which she would not reply. Anguish, stress, sick glamour.
"Kaben" (1995), "Ecologica 95" International ecologic Expo, design and performance, Fortezza da Basso, Florence Italy Global Ecologic Exposition in a 16th century fortress in Florence. "Kaben", Japanese for "petal", is a design object in modular form. Conceived as a creative answer to pollution, the kaben can be tranformed in an everchanging piece of art by adding waste onto its adhesive black and gold surface, creating a story, a pattern, a reflection of life. During the performance, a futuristic dress made of kabens and recycled plastic is worn to stimulate the public to make a statement, filmed and recorded at each stage of the modification.
