So far only the sound design has been agreed. The soundscape will have two
dimensions:
- The HORIZONTAL stream (THE RIVER) floating from left to right
(all the way through the broadcast).
- The DEPT movement (THE BRIDGE) in both directions: "far to near" & "near
to far", but once in a while this movement will be interrupted - " the bridge
is up" - or maybe the bridge is not there yet/anymore.
We will start the broadcast, Thursday 5th, Sepember, at 23h15 and go on
for 2-4 hours.
I`m the coordinator (email: tob@dr.dk), and a number of colleagues will
participate (Peter Kristiansen, Martin Jackobsen, Kirsten Maegaard....etc.),
in what I think will be a live jam-session in sound!!!!
I will compose the live inputs from various sources, tapes, lines,
recievers, mics., etc. during the broadcast,
Based on the ideas coming in from the participants - I will make the final
concept soon - but so far, we have discussed the following headlines:
- "SEARCHING FOR DANISH RIVERS" .......as you know - we havent got one
single river in Denmark - but many bridges. (we might need riversounds from
the rest of the world - if we decide on this headline).
- "STORBAELTSBROEN - the bridge of communication - beetween whom ?".
This is the bridge you are referring to in your fax - it is not yet
finished, and it is going to be one of the worlds biggest bridges* - I think
15 km long. This bridge has been discussed for almost a hundred years in
Denmark - but soon it is ready - although nobody remembers what it is good
for ! (a minister ealier mentioned that we could get fresh milk from all
over the country then !)
*SEE: newspaper article
"THE BRIDGE - connecting what was not connected before - should it ever
have been connected ?
This idea requires sounds with contrasts - and similarities - I guess?
Well - thats all for now - please have patience with us - we are busy people
- but we will be "on the beat" soon.
Torben (Brandt).
