GRIDPUBLICLOCK.

An electrocuted portrait of human scapes. The set is fairly simple, the radio host introduces the show from the studio then leaves to go walk around the city. Upon every public phone he calls in to report his location, direction, state of mind, etc. A technician at the radio station fields the calls. Listeners are asked to give directions, go on walks themselves, give accounts of past experiences at those sites, etc.
In between telephone booths the callers on the air will be by themselves (a past version of this done in Montreal revealed that listeners on the air, not framed by a host, experience a fascinating fear of this void). The moments of silence in between calls from the host or listeners are themselves quite interesting, building a tension that awaits the next call. GRIDPUBLICLOCK transposed to several cities and then across the Ocean could be quite rich, directionless but with sharp aim inwards. If this idea is interesting to you it remains to be seen what is feasible in terms of the levels of interactivity between cities.

At a minimal cost level the interaction would be just local and the result fed out but some return to connect the cities at street level would be quite nice. There is a bit of logistics involved but given the time left it is feasible. I have not spoken to Jocelyn yet about this particular idea. 2 or 3 cities in Canada could participate and 2 hours would be an ideal stretch of time.
