Jan Trojan was born in 1982 in Duchcov (CZ). After completing secondary school in 1998, he was accepted to the Teplice conservatory to study composition with Václav Bůžek, from where he graduated in 2004; his graduate work was a symphonic composition. He was subsequently accepted to the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where he is currently studying with professor Milan Slavický. Trojan attended the ISA 2007 summer composition courses (Nigel Osbourne, Germán Toro-Pérez) and has participated in many electroacoustic workshops. In 2008, he participated in a semester exchange (Erasmus) at the Hochschule der Künste Zürich.
