Le Quan Ninh


Born in Paris 1961
With a classical background, Lê Quan Ninh has played with several contemporary music ensembles and within theater and dance companies. He is one of the members of the Quatuor Hêlios, a percussion ensemble mainly involved in playing new pieces mixing percussion and new technology. Nin has previously performed at the Western Front with Quatuor Hêlios as part of the 1997 Electronic Arts Festival. As an improvisor, he participates at numerous meetings in Europe and in the USA and plays regularly in ensembles in forms that mix contemporary acoustic & electroacoustic music, improvisation, 'performance art', dance, poetry, experimental cinema, photography and video. He works currently with the dancers Iwana Masaki, Valérie Métivier, Nakamura Yukiko, Michel Raji, Pascal Delhay and Patricia Kuypers. He is a member of the project Umwelt with the dancers Ting Li-Ping, Nakamura Yukiko, Ly Thanh Tiên and experimental-films maker Etienne Caire. Umwelt recently premiered at Musique Action Festival in Vand Luvre-Lès-Nancy (France).
