María Ponce likes to listen the sound of
paper when turning the pages of used notebooks. Mexico city born, she
has a Masters Degree in Sonic Arts from Queen’s University Belfast in the UK and an Audio-visual Communication degree from Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana, Mexico. She’s been collaborating with different radio stations in Mexico such as Radio UNAM and Ibero 90.9. She was also a part of the team of the Fonoteca Nacional as a sound designer and as an international events coordinator. She has received two Honorary mentions for her radio work. In 2005 for Escobas in the International Contemporary Film Festival of Mexico City and in 2006 for Territorio Sonoro campaign at the 6th International Radio Biennial. She also received the Professional Achievement award from the Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana in 2011. She now lives in the UK.
