Pomassl operates at the borders of the human auditive perceptional system, working on its expansion. He surpasses the given auditive parameters of technical equipment and explores possible limitations of acoustic perception by denying them. This permanent confrontation between the logos of the machine and human intuition underlies many of his projects as e.g.

The CD 'Trail Error' was realised after a research grant at the earthquake simulation center in Tokyo.
Franz Pomassl has published many other records. He produced compilations of his work for labels such as Laton, Sabotage, Craft, PPlate Lunch, Rough Trade or Discono.
Other artistic activities include: DJ-sets and live-acts in Europe and Japan and the participation in international festivals and exhibitions such as Ars Electronica, Steirischer Herbst, PhonoTAKTIK; Construction Sounds, Vienna (with Kodwo Eshun)

Pomassl operiert an den Grenzen und an der Expansion des menschlich
auditiven Wahrnehmungssystems, er überschreitet vorgegebene auditive
Parameter des technischen Equipments, lotet mögliche Barrieren
akustischer Rezeption durch kompromißloses Negieren derselben
aus. Diese permanente Konfrontation von Maschinenlogos versus menschlicher
Intuition findet sich u.a. auch in seinen Projekten ITT (Infrasonic
Transmission Tube, 1996), Trail Error (1996) und Tactile Music (1998).
Die nach einem Forschungsaufenthalt am Earthquake Simulation Center
in Tokyo entstandene CD "Trail Error" (1996) beinhaltet in konzentrierter
Form die Auseinandersetzung mit vorhandenen subtilen gesellschaftlichen
Momenten und deren Transformation, die in ihren Entstehungsprozessen
dem Autor als Potential und Basis für das musikalische Konzept
dienten.
Franz Pomassl hat bisher zahlreiche Tonträger veröffentlicht
sowie Kompilations-Beiträge auf Labels wie Laton, Sabotage, Craft,
Plate Lunche, Rough Trade oder Discono produziert. Weitere künstlerische
Aktivitäten: DJ-Sets und Live-Acts in etlichen europäischen
Ländern sowie in Japan, internationale Beteiligungen bei Festivals
und Ausstellungen (u.a. Construction Sounds mit Kodwo Eshun, Manifesta
2, Phonotaktik, Ars Electronica, "steirischer Herbst").
