Niels Lyngsø

I was born in 1968.

In Denmark I am mostly known as a poet - my two latest collections of poetry are STOF (german: Stoff/Materie) from 1996 and FORCE MAJEURE from 1999. I have turned both of these books into radio versions - STOF with my own voice electronically manipulated together with electronically generated soundscapes; FORCE MAJEURE with a more "acoustic" or "realistic" sound (wind, running steps in a big forrest etc.) and with six actors (a boy, a girl, a young man, a young woman, an old man (the same who is doing HIMMELFART, his name is S&oslslash;ren Elung Jensen) and an old woman). HIMMELFART is my third radiopiece, all of them have been broadcasted by LYDMUREN, national danish radio.

I have also made some performances with a combination of poetry and soundscapes, and I am doing a lot of ordinary poetry readings as well, both in Denmark and abroad (I've been to New York, Hamburg, Stockholm, Tallin and Bergen (Norway)).

I have studied literature at the University of Copenhagen from 1987 to 1993 and took my master degree. I have been teaching at the University and several other places (Academy of Arts, Writers Schools etc.).

I am also a literary critic (with poetry as my special field), writing for one of the biggest danish newspapers, POLITIKEN.
