Tomas Phillips (b. 1969) is a composer, novelist, and teacher whose sound work focuses on minimalist through-composition and performance. He began composing electronic music in the early 1990s and has since released recordings on such labels as Trente Oiseaux, Line and Non Visual Objects. Collaborations include work with Francisco López and the Opéra de Montréal, as well as music created for installations, dance and theatre. Tomas has taught in the disciplines of literature and fine arts at various universities in the US, Québec, and Finland. Having completed an interdisciplinary PhD at Concordia University in Montréal, he now lives in the US, where he teaches writing and literature at North Carolina State University.
