The festival Graetzlrauschen, together with Ö1 Kunstradio, invites Berlin-based artist and operator of radio aporee Udo Noll to Vienna for the third part of the festival "Circus".
Graetzlrauschen is a new festival format for public space that connects the virtual and real worlds. It was conceived and developed by the association "Echoraeume" in the course of the Covid Lockdowns and will take place for the first time between June and September 2022 at three different locations in Vienna.
The Dornerplatz and surroundings (Sat, 11.6.22), the Viktor-Adler Markt in the Favoritner pedestrian zone (Sat 9.7.22) as well as the Ilgplatz and the Stuwerviertel (Sat, 17.9.22) will be or have been explored, each from 4 to 10 pm with free admission.
Graetzlrauschen explores the artistic possibilities of current streaming technologies. Technical innovation becomes a source of inspiration for cultural interventions. Virtual space is made tangible in real space. The various venues of a district are connected via live stream and can thus be visited on the Internet at the same time.
As part of the third part "CIRCUS" of the Graetzlfestival on September 17, 2022, the artist Udo Noll will use mobile microphones ("#mobilemics") developed by him to make acoustic aspects of the surrounding urban space audible as a live sound installation in the square. In a soundwalk with the audience, the surrounding urban and river landscape of Iglplatz will be explored and integrated into the installation.
The #mobilemics are part of the project radio.earth, which deals with the ecological crisis and its perception. Listening to places of different intensities of use, from urban and industrial zones, natural and living spaces, knowledge and sensitivity expand and intertwine towards a perceptive capacity that can make data and facts accessible to a sensual cognition.
From the material of the sound installation at Ilgplatz and selected pieces of current radio.earth sessions, Noll developed a new radio work for Kunstradio.
