"Whoever reaches the goal misses everything else" is one of the nearly one hundred "Tips for a young writer" written by the Yugoslavian author Danilo Kis in 1984 and recently brought back to the public by Hans Magnus Enzensberger (or rather his alter ego Andreas Thalmayr). This warning refers to the possibilities of experience and adventure that are inherent in detour, straying, vasculating and thus to the fragmentary, disoriented and ambiguous as an object or method of creative work.

What Kiš has to give such consideration to was last year the subject of a cooperation between students of the Institute for Linguistic Art at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna, and prospective sound designers of the master's degree course of the same name at the University of Art and Design Graz and the FH-Joanneum, who are now cooperating with this project for the fifth time.

The result are fifteen projects of very different character: social satires, relationship dramas, an ironic odyssey in the tram, but also a number of experimental language and sound art pieces.

The project was directed by media artist Orhan Kipcak, supported by the voices of: Bettina Gjecai, Anja Liedl, Anna Schroll and Christoph Marek.

The Kiš quotation originates from: Danilo Kiš, Homo Poeticus, Conversations and Essays, edited by Ilma Rakusa, Hanser, 1994 and Andreas Thalmayr (H.M. Enzensberger), Writing for Eternal Beginners: A Short Course, Hanser, 2018
