The radio piece by Friederike Mayröcker and Bodo Hell was originally recorded as a sound installation for public spaces: "vom Umarmen des Komponisten auf dem offenen Soffa" was created as a collaboration between Mayröcker and Hell for the TONSPUR organization in Vienna. The sound installation could be heard last year in the TONSPUR Passage in the MuseumQuartier, as well as in Berlin on the Schlossplatz. For Kunstradio, the radio piece was processed into a radio version in 5.1 surround sound.

The text by the poet Friederike Mayröcker refers to the life of the composer Robert Schumann, who was married to the pianist Clara Schumann and spent the last years of his life suffering from delusions in a mental hospital near Bonn. Mayröcker used the medical records from this period, which detail daily routines, Robert Schumann's state of health, including his digestion and therapeutic methods, as well as letters and diaries by Clara Schumann for her research. Nevertheless, her text breaks away from Schumann's biography, for example by overlaying his character with other personalities, including her own, or by bringing the characters into the present, such as when they talk on the phone or go to Café Drechsler.

In response to Mayröcker's neologisms and dream words, the author Bodo Hell has added interjection-like notes to the text and interspersed his thoughts - a very stimulating form of literary exchange for both of them.

The two have read in their respective texts themselves and separately, so as not to also have to respond acoustically directly to each other, because basically it is a reading with two voices. The material was arranged in 5.1 surround sound by sound engineer Martin Leitner, with each voice occupying a different track.
