Founded
in 1989, Ars Acustica is a group dedicated to radio art within the
European Broadcasting Union EBU. Producers und editors of national
public broadcasting corporations and radio art programmes are the
members of Ars Acustica: Ars Sonora (Spain), Monitor (Sweden), Radio
Art (Slovakia) und RTBF (Belgium) – to name but a few.
Amongst the projects realized by the Ars Acustica in the last are the 24 hours live radio and network project “Horizontal Radio” (1995), the radio and internet project “Rivers & Bridges” (1996) and since 2005 the annual network festival Art’s Birthday. „The EBU Ars Acustica Group serves as a node for the exchange of radio art productions, project proposals and the exchange of information about activities and events in media art in different countries. It stimulates and encourages discussion of current trends in theory and practice of radio art and connected fields, and the realization of co-productions between broadcasting corporations. It is strongly convinced of the necessity of an art form reflecting the development of radio and broadcasting in our society.“ (Erik Mikael Karlsson, EBU Ars Acustica Coordinator, 2005-2009 Link: |
