The net-concert „Chironomy“ is conceived as a prelude to the global celebrations on the occasion of Art’s Birthday 2006 on January 17, and is performed remotely by five musicians in Vienna and Vancouver exchanging musical ideas via the Internet.
Their acoustic exploration of interactivity, improvisation, gestural communication, and text is embedded within the context of network culture, desire, expectation, and alienation – in essence what defines our contemporary condition.

The artists exploit the characteristic artifacts which repeatedly occur in networked streaming projects for their musical interpretation such as unforseeable visual / rhythmic time delays, unintended synchronicity, the disembodiment of sound sources or the giving up of control and predictability.

A Wiencouver project.

Miya Masaoka: koto, laptop, LaserKoto
François Houle: clarinet, laptop, electronics
Giorgio Magnanensi: analogue electronics
Klaus Filip: tube, lloopp
Burkhard Stangl: guitars, electronic devices
