Padre Teresa was born in Via Diamante, Venezuela in 1951 and died, after an unsolved mysterious carcrash in La Paz, Bolivia in 1997. He was one of the most explicit composers of cumbias lunaticas, a genre within latin american underground folk music. This category of most unpredictable dancesongs is starting to come up in all the different peripheries of South America. Padre Teresa's ideological position as an arranger-composer of cumbias was: The Austrians took the feathered crown of Moctezuma to their country, so now we, the involved cumbia composers, will take Strauss's Musical Legacy to turn them into cumbias. Since the first Strauss Manifesto, Padre Teresa's versions of Blue Donau and Wiener Blut are known and have been copied by other cumbias musicians all over the world.
The phenomenon of the cumbias lunaticas rose from the first Festicumex (Festival de Cumbias Experimentales), a gathering of unknown eccentric musicians that took place in La Ceiba, Honduras in 1996. Festicumex 2 will take place this year in Buenos Aires, on the occasion of the beatification of Madre Teresa. This event will be a hommage to Padre Teresa.

Festicumex 2 is organised with the participation of "Hecho en Buenos Aires", the well-reputed homeless paper. IBW will be responsable for the selection of unstable artists, a list that will include: Dick El Demasiado, Hygienica Gonzalez, and Vibracion Mussurana. The Dutch Mondriaan Foundation subsidizes the IBW and is supporter of the Cumbia Lunaticas Movement.
