The first Set of the "Acoustic Space" series is made by PLANKTONS & AQUARELL - who are Latvian sound artist Peteris Kimelis and musician Martins Taurins. It is a live mix of various tracks, including scanned sound materials from the Irbene radio telescope, and their re-interpretations, as well as compilation of original music from their upcoming opus, in which they combine both - contemporary electronic music codes and acoustic sounds. The selection of the first Set is also exploiting their acoustic explorations of the parabolic antenna dishes - thus referencing the acoustic experiments made by Acoustic.Space.Lab artists in Irbene radio telescope, in summer 2001, who used the dish as a big ear to scan surrounding environment.

"Acoustic.Space.Set #1" curated by Rasa Smite und Raitis Smits stammt von dem lettischen Soundkünstler Peteris Kimelis und dem Musiker Martins Taurins, die sich PLANKTONS & AQUARELL nennen. Sie machen einen Live-Mix aus verschieden Tracks, u.a. Soundaufnahmen vom Irbene Radioteleskop, ihre Re-Interpretation dieses Klangmaterials sowie eine Kompilation aus ihren neuen Arbeiten, in dem zeitgenössische elektronische Musikcodes und akustische Sounds miteinander kombiniert werden. Das Radiostück beinhaltet aber auch Teile ihrer akustischen Recherche zu Satellitenschüsseln - diese setzen es in Bezug zu den Soundexperimenten der KünstlerInnen des Acoustic.Space.Labs, die im Sommer 2001 die riesige Schüssel des Radioteleskops in Irbene als Hörgerät nutzten, um die Umgebung akustisch abzutasten.
