Roadmovie is a composition made from recorded and found audio of a
drive from Brooklyn to Vancouver, Atlantic to Pacific that took a total
of 65 hours to complete. During this drive a timelapse video was made
through the back window of the car, compressing the journey into 65
minutes. Roadmovie is the first project produced for presentation within the context of the Artist Run Limousine. While Roadmovie can and should stand for itself, as a representation of the transcontinental journey, its "natural" environment is confined within the comfortable automotive of the Artist Run Limousine. In it a group of up to four people can experience the visual and audible journey, underlined by the distinct setting, which together strive to evoke the intimacy and excitement of a transcontinental road trip. The Artist Run Limousine is a venue for all kinds of contemporary art, it was just launched with the premiere of Roadmovie. It has some basic multimedia equipment built in and is designed to accommodate more sophisticated gear as well as installation work inside the passenger compartment. Some bigger, mobile projects are planned for next summer, so stay tuned to http://www.firstfloor.org/ARL for further development. The radio edit of Roadmovie for Kunstradio was produced by Matt Smith, with the help of Sandra Wintner and Arvind Thadhani (who was the partner in producing the initial timelapse video). |
