"Attention Span"
PLAY
Attention Span is a series of short pieces using Annabelle`s
trademark mix of acoustic instrumentation, sounds found in her immediate environment,
recontextualized noises, wacky computer manipulations, sliced and diced breakbeats,
urban and natural audio landscapes and visceral emotional content.

The pieces that make up "My Body Among the Stars" are an attempt to initiate a
situation in which both the listener and the producer would be "abducted by audio",
transported laterally into acoustic space. "Acoustic space" is imagined here as an
alien landscape, into which one can be abducted from the material world. Heavily
informed by dub and ambient techno, "My Body" makes extensive use of echo and reverb
to effect a mutation of the original sound sources. As many of these sounds originated
with the producer's own body, they can be considered to have been disembodied and
dematerialized, sent into space, and returned in a mutated form. Other sound sources
include VLF radio recordings of atmospheric and astral phenomena, science fiction
sound effects and binaural beat programs initially designed to alter brain states.
The arrangements are intended to both suggest and perhaps effect some form of travel
into sonic space wherein the body and mind are rendered digitally in acoustic space,
decoded, transformed, mutated, infected, and then returned. In the final section of
"My Body" sonic materials made available by Acoustic Space Lab`s Open-Source Sampling
Project are added to the (re-)mix .
Travel into space always requires the encasement
of the body in advanced technology. In this case it is the ability of the studio to
extend the body into the digital realm by encoding it that allows for its transport
into the alien acoustic space.

akustischen Raum digital gerendert, decodiert, transformiert, mutiert,
